Benefits:
1. Staying connected when living long distance and during military
deployments.
2. Getting information on community or family events.
3. You can post anywhere and anytime you want to share your
thoughts or feelings.
4. Asking for advice and having quick responses from other
people’s experiences.
Challenges:
1. I feel the number one way this could be challenging is
facing addiction.
2. Understanding the variety of language used such
as—acronyms, slang, and/or abbreviations.
3. Face to face interaction may become less frequent because
microblogging can become more manageable.
4. Oversharing.
I use Facebook frequently for my
personal and professional life. I don’t have my own business, but I do promote
my place of employment. I like staying motivational and inspirational to others
because it helps me to stay that way with myself and the life decisions I make.
I used Facebook very frequently when I was stationed away from my family. I was
able to update them with how I was doing and other important updates, like my
children. Once I moved back home I stopped posting so frequently about things
that I did because people can be very intrusive on decisions you make or
whatever else it may be. I don’t mind being open about my life, but I also
don’t like people putting their opinions where they are not welcomed. In order
to prevent that I stick to being inspirational and posting little updates on my
children.
